The RCP's Advanced educational supervisor workshop has been developed to meet the latest General Medical Council (GMC) standards and the requirements of the 2024 Gold Guide, supporting the professional development of postgraduate medical supervisors. This course is designed to enhance the supervisory skillset of those with prior educational supervisor training and experience.
This course is particularly suitable for doctors who have previously undertaken educational supervisor training and have at least 3 years’ experience supervising resident doctors of any grade and specialty.
The course content is designed to enhance your skills in identifying and managing resident doctors requiring additional support, and includes strategies to encourage receptiveness to feedback, inclusive feedback and consideration of equality, diversity, and inclusion in relation to the role of educational supervisor. The course also includes opportunities to put supervisory theory into practice via various challenging scenario and role play exercises.
Updated in line with the 2024 Gold Guide, this course incorporates elements of all seven areas of the Academy of Medical Educators’ Framework for the Professional Development of Postgraduate Medical Supervisors and the General Medical Council (GMC) standards for the recognition and approval of trainers.
