The RCP has published a new edition of Commentary, bringing together perspectives from physicians on education, prevention, global health and the future of medicine.
Education and training are a central focus of the edition. A conversation between Professor Dame Jane Dacre and Dr Seán Coghlan examines phase 2 of the medical education and training review. The feature comes after the RCP welcomed the findings and recommendations of the first phase of the review as the college continues its work to support the next generation of physicians, including removing membership fees for foundation doctors.

Dr Chris Packham, RCP special adviser on public health and prevention, argues that physicians must take a leading role in driving the prevention agenda. Members can also read about the development of the RCP strategy 2026–30 and the role that member engagement played in shaping the college’s priorities.

In a thoughtful interview, Professor Keith McAdam reflects on his work in tropical medicine and with ECSACOP, while Dr Andrew Blanshard shares his experiences as a recipient of the Tuanku Nazrin travelling fellowship. Together, their stories highlight how physicians contribute to improving healthcare across different healthcare systems.
Dr Wajiha Rizwan recounts the founding of the Medical Women’s Foundation Pakistan and reflects on how the RCP’s Global Women Leaders Programme helped support its development. Meanwhile, Dr Jack Parry-Jones marks the founding of the College of Intensive Care Medicine, celebrating an important milestone for the specialty college.
The latest edition also celebrates achievements from across the RCP community – from the Excellence in Patient Care Award winners to a milestone for the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Services Accreditation Scheme, which recently reached 50 accredited services.
