Mastering the NHS interview: a comprehensive guide for international medical graduates (IMGs) seeking their first NHS post
This webinar is designed specifically for international medical graduates (IMGs) preparing for interviews to secure their first NHS appointment. It is ideal for doctors seeking both short-term opportunities, including those applying through the Medical Training Initiative (MTI), as well as those planning a long-term career in the UK.
It will provide an overview of the NHS interview process and common formats. It will cover commonly asked questions as well as equipping you with structured interview response techniques. Attendees will gain a clearer understanding of NHS values and expectations as well as an overview of key ethical and governance frameworks underpinning NHS practice.
By the end of this session, we hope you will feel better prepared, more confident, and equipped with the strategies to succeed in future NHS interviews.

Dr Emma Mitchell
Dr Emma Mitchell is a consultant geriatrician working at Southmead Hospital, Bristol. She has a special interest in Parkinson’s disease and has been involved in various international research and service development projects related to ageing and frailty.
Since 2023, Emma has been working with the RCP Global team as AGD for international medical graduates (IMGs). She has led multiple initiatives to enhance and streamline the MTI Programme, from application until post-placement, ensuring placements are reflective of the needs of candidates, NHS trusts and international partners. In addition, Emma is driving RCP’s support for refugee physicians and expanding opportunities that support the integration and postgraduate development for IMGs.
Dr Rajini Sudhir
Dr Sudhir is a Consultant Respiratory Physician at Glenfield Hospital, Leicester.
She trained across East Midlands and worked in Nottingham prior to return to Leicester where they straddle both lung cancer and pleural services. They lead the lung cancer service at Leicester, are the co-chair of ECAG and a honorary senior lecturer at University of Leicester. Dr Sudhir is a previous RCP tutor who is actively involved in recruitment from medical school to consultant level and passionate about training opportunities for IMG cohort.
