Snail Sitting On A Leaf

Event time: 10am - 12pm

Ready to get up close with minibeasts and do some maggot racing?!

Join us at the RCP Museum for a fascinating and hands-on half term workshop led by author and educator Michael Holland.

Explore the intriguing world of invertebrates, discover how leeches, earthworms, bees, snails, and spiders were used in historical remedies, and learn about their vital role in supporting medicinal plants.

This interactive session includes trail round exhibition ‘Healing words’, creative craft activities, and a visit to our beautiful medicinal garden.

Perfect for curious minds aged 7–11, this workshop promises a fun and educational adventure into the past!

Tickets cost £12 per child. The suggested age for attending children is 7–11 years but all are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the event but accompanying adults attend for free.

All materials and light refreshments will be provided.

Exhibition ‘Healing words’ explores the unofficial story of medicine in England from 1500-1800 through our fascinating collection of medicinal recipe books.

The RCP medicinal garden contains over 1,100 plants with links to medicine. The myriad stories they tell come from diverse cultures, different countries and from every age in recorded history.
