Return to teaching

This 1-day interactive workshop is designed to facilitate a return to teaching by updating and refreshing your knowledge of effective, learner-centred education. It will enable you to build on your skills and knowledge to deliver up-to-date, evidence-informed teaching.
Through peer discussion and focused activities, you will explore developments in medical education, evaluate your existing skills and ensure your teaching is effective, practical and evidence-based to support learners today.
This interactive, 1-day workshop is designed to support senior doctors who wish to return to teaching and update their skills, underpinned by an evidence-based approach that aligns with the current needs and structures of medical education in the UK.
By the end of the workshop senior doctors will be able to:
- Understand and apply different teaching methods and effective learning strategies
- Critically evaluate learning theory and research evidence to inform educational practice
- Develop a toolkit of practical teaching methods
- Enhance their practical teaching skills and support student-centred learning
- Have opportunities to network with other senior doctors and medical educators
This course is open to senior doctors wanting to update their teaching skills and considering an increased focus on medical education.
