Tackling misinformation in healthcare

This is a Medical Care - driving change webinar. We'll explore the impact of misinformation and disinformation on clinical practice.
Learn about the damage misinformation can cause to patients, and what we can do to address this. Featuring social psychologist Prof Sander van der Linden, author of the Waterstones Book of the Year for Politics 2023, Foolproof. Sander will be joined by Dr Lucy Douglas, GP and former president of the Primary Care Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Medicine Society, and Julia Ellis, RCP Patient and Carer Network (PCN) representative.

Sander van der Linden is social psychologist and author who is a professor of social psychology at the University of Cambridge. He studies the psychology of social influence, risk, human judgment, and decision-making. Sander is known for his research on the psychology of social issues, such as fake news, COVID-19, and climate change. He has written books for general audiences, including Foolproof: Why We Fall for Misinformation and How to Build Immunity.
Lucy is a GP and former president of the Primary Care Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Medicine Society.
Julia is a member of RCP’s patient and carer network (PCN). She led the Primary Care and Community Reach programme at Carers Trust and is now working in partnership with organisations whose members or workforce are in a position to identify and support carers and refer them on to other services and agencies that can help them.
