NAIF Transparency Data

Hospital Staff Working

The data documents on this page show NHS trust or health board level compliance with defined clinical standards for the prevention of inpatient falls as well as post fall management.

What information is being made available?

Trust or Health Board level data on care processes. The data does not include details of individual patients or any patient identifiable data.

Using and interpreting the data

Data from the NAIF requires careful interpretation, and the information should not be looked at in isolation when assessing standards of care. Data is provided by every participating Trust or Health Board in England and Wales. Small number suppression has been applied where necessary, using the barnadisation method. Barnadisation method involves:

Where any ‘n’ (number) was <3, the numbers and percentages were suppressed. Where only one ‘n’ was <3, and the second-lowest number was <5, the second-lowest number and percentage was also suppressed. Where only one ‘n’ was <3 and the second-lowest number was not <5, the second lowest number was barnadised (+1/–1). This process was conducted for data protection reasons, to ensure anonymity of the patient data included in reporting.

Accessing the data

The data is being made available on the data.gov.uk website and on this page.
