Participating in the FLS-DB

RCP12105

Who should participate

If your organisation (hospital, primary care practice, network and/or other community service) treats fractures you need to participate in the FLS-DB.

The FLS-DB is included in the HQIP listing for national audits that must be reported both in the trust’s quality account and also forms part of the National Clinical Audit Patient Outcomes Programme (NCAPOP).

The level or participation required depends on whether you have a fracture liaison service (FLS) - a service that systematically identifies eligible patients aged over 50 years who have suffered a fragility fracture and treats or refers them to appropriate services with the aim of reducing their risk of subsequent fractures. If you do have an FLS, then you need to participate fully in the FLS-DB (patient audit component and facilities audit component).

How to participate

To participate in the FLS-DB all sites need to fill out the registration form below and return it to flsdb@rcp.ac.uk. We will then create a login for you to access the web tool.

All data input will take place via the online web tool. Copies of the patient component dataset are available to download below.

Once access to enter patient data has been organised there are two options for entering patient data:

  • enter each individual patient record manually, or
  • use an upload process.

If you are intending to upload your records, please see the import dataset document and upload information available to download on this page. The upload process will take time to set up, but once you have done this future uploads will be quick and easy. For further advice, see our guidance for web tool users.

For more information please see our FAQs (available below). If your question is not answered by the FAQs please contact flsdb@rcp.ac.uk
