The Royal College of Physicians (RCP) is seeking a fellow and a practising haematologist in the UK to chair the Intercollegiate Committee on Haematology, jointly managed by the RCP and RCPath.
This intercollegiate committee is established to advise the RCP and RCPath on matters related to haematology in the laboratory and clinical fields including:
- Specialist training
- Workforce
- Setting national standards and agreeing joint guidelines and policy statements
- Coordinating responses to external stakeholders and requests for expert nominations (in conjunction with British Society for Haematology and other organisations)
- Providing liaison between RCP, RCPath, specialist societies and health bodies in the devolved nations.
The chair’s position rotates between RCP and RCPath. RCP’s turn is for the next 3 years.
The following organisations are represented in the ICH; British Society for Haematology (BSH), the British Society of Blood and Marrow Transplantation (BSBMT), the British Blood Transfusion Society (BBTS) and the Association for Clinical Pathologists (ACP). Other external organisations that represent practitioners in haematology are invited to attend the ICH as appropriate.
The ICH will soon be under the administrative term of the RCP and will meet twice per year, virtually.

Eligibility
Applicants for the role must:
- be a subscribing fellow (FRCP) of the RCP
- be in good standing with the RCP, their employer and the GMC
- be credible to the clinical community
- possess a skillset relevant to the remit of the ICH (at times this may include ongoing expertise related to the NHS in the United Kingdom).
