The Royal College of Physicians (RCP) invites fellows apply for the Linacre fellow role.
This important role which, commencing in autumn 2026, with a 3-year tenure with a one-year possible extension thereafter. The role is open to all fellows in good standing whether working as consultants or SAS doctors.
The deadline for applications is midnight Sunday 31 May 2026 and shortlisted candidates are expected to be available for interview in London on Friday 19 June 2026 between 10.30am and 5pm.

The RCP is looking for someone with diverse experience who can provide high-level professional judgement to guide our work in supporting the activities of college tutors (CTs) and associate college tutors (ACTs) across the UK.
CTs and ACTs are employed within each trust to provide support and development to physicians in training and doctors who are locally employed within physician specialties.
About the role
As Linacre fellow, your work would focus on:
- the development and leadership of the RCP network of CTs and ACTs
- driving engagement with this network and facilitating events and activities which feed into the RCP strategy and aim to support medical educators and encourage best practice
- shaping the way the RCP’s CTs and ACTs work, and act as an advocate for their contribution to the wider workforce
Collaboration is one of the RCP’s core values and the Linacre fellow works closely with the wider RCP groups and networks, including regional advisers and our career stage committees for resident doctors, new consultants and SAS physicians.
The post holder should be interested in the strategic development of these groups and be able to think strategically in terms of how our work and engagement with CTs and ACTs could be supported by these stakeholders and, in turn, how we can support them.
