The Royal College of Physicians (RCP) delivers intensive 2-day communications skills courses overseas designed to provide doctors of all levels with the opportunity to refresh and develop essential verbal and non-verbal communications skills.
The courses reflect on the importance on effective doctor-patient communication, before participating in a range of workshops on topics including:
- patient centred care
- active listening
- structuring the consultation
- breaking bad news.
Courses are highly interactive, with learning achieved through a combination of role play, observation and small group work. Communications skills courses may be of particular interest to doctors preparing to take the MRCP(UK) PACES examination.
