A vacancy for a senior academic clinician will arise on the Research and Academic Medicine Committee (RAMC) at the end of 2015 and we are now looking for expressions of interest from fellows.
The RAMC deals with issues relating to UK academic strategy, research training and its interface with clinical postgraduate education, the conduct of research by its fellowship and the infrastructure of UK medical science. It aims to provide advice, information and assistance for academics and research-active clinicians at all levels and career stages and to reflect the importance of research to the NHS. As part of its work, the RAMC has held several successful workshops with the NIHR and organises the Translational science in medicine conference. It also contributes to the academic and research aspects of the Future Hospital Programme.
Membership includes the MRC, Wellcome Trust, NIHR, AMS, ACPM, Defence Medical Services, the JRCPTB and the postgraduate deans, together with representatives from RCP committees and faculties. The RAMC is chaired by the academic vice-president and meets three times a year. Fellows serve for three years.
