As delegates attend the British Association of Sport & Exercise Medicine (BASEM) spring conference, the RCP outlines the resources and guidance we provide on this medical specialty.
Sport and exercise medicine (SEM) involves the delivery of expert care in injury management and illness, physical activity and sport. Medical Care, the RCP's web-based planning resource for medical specialties, offers support to those involved in the planning and provision of SEM services.
The specialty is included in the RCP's specialty spotlight series, giving advice and guidance to those interested in a career in the field along with information on training and educational resources.
In Exercise for life, a report on the use of exercise in the treatment and management of disease, the RCP called for a national strategy for physical activity, health and wellness. The library, archive and museum blog has also discussed the historical role of RCP fellows in using exercise for health.
