All Fracture Liaison Services should aim to have patients involved in the development and improvement of their FLS. With their lived experience, patients and caregivers can provide guidance to FLSs to improve outcomes and better care to patients.
The Fracture Liaison Service Database team have developed patient engagement letter. If your service is seeking the input of patients and caregivers to improve or develop your FLS, this provides a template for services to adapt and share with patients and caregivers. The letter includes an overview of:
- what are fracture liaison services
- how the patient and caregivers can help them improve the service
- the type of patients or caregivers they are seeking.
This letter can be adapted for each service. We have highlighted in yellow the text we recommend services should personalise for their FLS, but this can be done for any part of the letter. Share this letter with organisations that are looking to set up an FLS or looking to improve their existing FLS.
In addition to this resource the FLS-DB clinical lead, Professor Kassim Javaid, delivered a video with the FLS-DB patient representatives – ‘introduction to quality improvement for patients.’ This video provides an overview of how patients and caregivers can get involved with FLSs.
